I’m under 15, can I apply?
If you are under 15, you cannot apply on your own. You will need to have your parent or guardian involved in the registration process.
I submitted my video, what else do I need to do to complete my application?
If you have already submitted your video, that’s great! There’s no further action you need to take at this stage. If you are selected, you will receive an invitation to finalize your registration as a WLF Ambassador.
I missed the deadline, can I apply after the applications have close?
No, the WLF Ambassador is a volunteer role NOT a paid position in the organization. This is NOT a job opportunity. The program is an opportunity to access a platform to develop your leadership skills, and cooperate with other literacy advocates around the globe to help eradicate illiteracy.
TRAINING AND MENTORING
Do I have personal training during the program?
No, due to a large number of participants, all learning materials are provided through our e-learning site. The modules are designed so that ambassadors can self-study at their own pace.
However, you can attend monthly webinars to meet special guests who can share their experiences about the topics discussed in the modules.
The program coordinator can only assist you in answering very specific questions that are not included in the e-learning platform content.
Do I have to travel to any of the locations where the World Literacy Foundation works? Do I need to attend on-sit events?
The 3-month program will be delivered ONLINE. You are not required to travel or attend any on-site events. You will need access to a computer/smartphone, and a good internet connection.
What is the program structure?
The program consists of five self-paced training modules delivered through our e-learning platform. We allow two weeks for each module. Throughout the program, Ambassadors are required to work on fundraising projects in their own community. By the end of the course, you are required to complete a final report to assess your progress.
Is it mandatory to organize an event or activity?
Yes, to complete the ambassador program, you are required to organize a fundraising activity within your community.
FUNDRAISING
Is it mandatory to raise funds for the World Literacy Foundation?
Yes, in 2024 our goal is to provide books and educational resources to 120,000 children who are struggling to read or don’t own a single book. As a Youth Ambassador, you will help to raise part of the $40,000 to find direct support to reduce illiteracy through 5 WLF programs
Can the World Literacy Foundation sponsor my own project or initiative?
No, the Ambassador Program is designed to inspire individuals to take action to reduce illiteracy rates worldwide. We do not sponsor or give grants to other programs, as we work with limited resources, and all of them are invested in our current projects.
Will I get a certificate from the World Literacy Foundation?
To receive the certificate of completion, ambassadors need to finish the whole program and organize a fundraising activity to support one of our literacy projects.
